Retrospective 2009 - School screenings with Leymah Gbowee

Leymah Gbowee visited two schools in Tuebingen during her five day long visit and had discussions with the students after the screening of „Pray the Devil Back to Hell“, as shown here at the „Geschwister-Scholl“ school.
She explained to the attentive audience how she managed to bring together Christian and Muslim women in order to fight against the horrors and violence of civil war, especially directed towards women and children.
At first, they had to fight against numerous clichees and find a common denominator for all the women...

Leymah also succeeded in establishing the connection to the realities of adolescents in countries like Germany: «The commitment to fight violence against women and girls should not stop at state boundaries. Every teenager should be aware of her/his responsibility to act for example when a girl is harassed by a gang.»
Obviously, the pupils were very impressed with Leymah’s personality, her narration and her capability to empathize with their world...
Subsequently, they engaged lively in the following discussion.
They honored her by giving her flowers.
The discussion continued after the screening with the teacher that had organized her visit....

...and with the pupils, who still had many questions for Leymah
