Festivalimpressions 2014 - Monday, 24.11. - School Screenings

The Women’s Worlds are on a visit at the Geschwister Scholl School (Tübingen) with the film “Difret”*

The film is based on the true story of the lawyer Meaza Ashenafi from Ethiopia. She speaks with the students about her work as a women’s rights activist in Ethiopia, her experiences during her cooperation on the Ethiopian Constitution and the destiny of young Hirut, whose case is the plot of the film.
*

She explains that since the spectacular case, the traditional abduction, rape and forced marriages have decreased in Ethiopia, but there is still a lot of work to do to eradicate this harmful tradition entirely.
*

The very impressed students enjoy taking pictures with Meaza.*

At the same time the Mathilde Weber School screened the feature film “Be My Baby,
Film director Christina Schiewe and assistent director Bülent Yilmaz are attending as guests of the school.

Both answer the questions about the issue of sexuality and the desire to have a baby in handicapped people, but also about the process of making the film.

After a long and intense exchange the students react with enthusiastic applause.
