Susan
Gluth
Film: Urmila – für die Freiheit
Gluth remembers: „I was circling around the question of, where does
this power come from? How can you be this powerful with this painful
past? All these girls are traumatized. But Urmila was the most powerful.
That’s why I was attracted to her.”
“Urmila teaches us to stand up and do something. She is not only a hero
for the girls in Nepal, she’s a hero for everyone,” says Susan. “If Urmila
can, we all can. It’s not only about slavery; it’s about life in general.
Her story inspires people, especially the younger generation.”
Today Susan Gluth works as a photographer, film director and free-lance
camera woman for documentaries, reportages and magazines. She has been
a jury member at different film festivals such as the dokfest Munich
and the Riverrun International Film festival in the U.S. In addition,
she has lectured at the Film Academy of Baden-Wuerttemberg and at the
University for Television and Film in Munich.
