Panel discussion on forced marriage and early marriage – new ways of preventive work

According to UNICEF, every year over 12 million girls and young women worldwide are being married before their 18th birthday. The consequences of early marriage include sexualized violence, social and economic dependence and teenage pregnancy. Even in Germany, girls and young women are affected by forced marriage, although it has been classified as a criminal offence since 2017. The discussion will provide insights into the current situation and present various possibilities for preventive work.
