Prof. Dr. med. Sibylle M. Winter is the assistant director of the Klinik für Psychiatrie, Psychosomatik und Psychotherapie des Kindes- und Jugendalters, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Campus Virchow, Berlin, Germany. During 2015 – 2017 she was the interim head of the clinic. Furthermore, as a certified specialist for child protection (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Kinderschutz in der Medizin) she is responsible for all areas of Medical Child Protection at Charité. In addition, she is the head of the Trauma Outpatient Clinic (Traumaambulanz), and the Child Protection Outpatient Clinic (Kinderschutzambulanz) as well as Central Clearing Authority of Refugees (Zentrale Clearingsstelle für Flüchtlinge). She completed her medical studies at the University of Lübeck in Germany 1992. Besides the specialisation for child and adolescent psychiatrist she further qualified in psychosomatics, consultation-liaison psychiatry, intercultural psychotherapy, psychotraumatology and university didactics. Since 1993, she has been working and conducting research at the Free University of Berlin and the Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Germany.
Her research and clinical work focus on early identification, psychodiagnostics and traumafocused treatment of children and adolescents with experiences of physical, emotional and sexual abuse and neglect, particularly considering the complex mechanism of the transgenerational transference (cycle of abuse). She has specialized in the high vulnerability during early childhood as violence during this age, clinical consequences are particulary severe for the whole life span.
Prof. Dr. med. Sibylle M. Winter will be present as an expert and Deputy Clinic Director & Senior Physician of the Clinic for Psychiatry, Psychosomatics and Psychotherapy of Childhood and Adolescence, Charité after BURNING MEMORIES.
