Melina León, Peru, 2019, 97 min., documentary film, OV with english subtitles
The heavily pregnant Georgina is selling potatoes at a market in Peru when she learns about a free maternity clinic. The destitute young woman from the Andes gratefully accepts the offer. But immediately after giving birth she notices that something went wrong: her daughter is taken away and nobody wants to tell her where to find her. The young mother desperately hopes for the help of the journalist Pedro, who in the course of his research discovers a political state secret.
CANCIÓN SIN NOMBRE uses impressive black-and-white shots and detailed scenes to tell the moving story of a woman who fights tirelessly for her baby even though her situation seems hopeless. The film also throws light on the delicate political situation in Peru at the end of the 1980s.
