Dilek Okur was born in 1986 in Bingen as the third of four daughters. Her parents come from a rural area in Turkey and came to Germany as guest workers. She grew up in Bad Kreuznach. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in “Comparative Cultural and Religious Studies” at the Philipps University of Marburg, with minor subjects in Gender Studies, Islamic Studies and Turkish. She also completed her second Bachelor of Arts in Marburg in education and educational sciences From 2011 to 2017 she worked in the city group of TERRE DES FEMMES in Marburg. Since September 2017 she lives in Berlin. From November 2017 to July 2020 Okur was volunteer coordinator in the Turkey project of TERRE DES FEMMES. The partner project is a cooperation with the women’s rights organization YAKA-KOOP in Eastern Turkey, which works for education and protection against early and forced marriage. Mrs. Okur worked for two years at a focal point school as a school social worker and then took a break. Now in October she is starting a job as a social education worker in the mother-child living.
