Two films and an accompanying panel discussion shed a powerful light on today’s Afghanistan and the living conditions of Afghan women. In WRITING HAWA, Hawa, who was forced into marriage as a child, fights for education and self-determination \u2013 but with the return of the Taliban, her hopes for a secure future for herself and her family are shattered. THE LAST AMBASSADOR<\/strong> shows Manizha Bakhtari, who, despite the international non-recognition of the Taliban, fights tirelessly for the rights of Afghan women and, as Afghanistan’s last ambassador in Vienna, becomes an important voice for women in the country.
