Film: Vergine Giurata – Sworn Virgin
In 2015 her debut film Vergine Giurata celebrated its premiere in the competition of the Berlinale. The film is based on the novel of the same name by the Albanian author Elvira Dones, who had fled her home country in 1988, back then still under a communist regime. The Italian director combines in her film the view of a traditional world with current gender issues.
“For sure this is a film that leads us to think about gender, about the female and the male, and turns our view on this by 360 degrees.”, says Laura Bispuri about her debut film.
