Hoistin up the flag at the international day against violence
against women

this year’s motto “Protect girls! Overcome female genital
mutilation together” |
Tübingen’s officer for gender equality Luzia Köberlein talked about the importance of the international day against violence against
women. |
Christa Stolle, executive manager of TERRE DES FEMMES, presented the demands
of the organisation. |

Rakieta Poyga, founder and director of the organisation „Association
Bangr Nooma“, presented the educational work she accomplishes
in her home country Burkina Faso against female genital mutilation. |
Courage e.v. presented a scenic reading on the topic of international women’s
rights in front of the city hall.

After the documentary “Some Things Are Hard to Talk About” there
was an audience discussion with expert Sibylle Schreiber (right). |
Sibylle Schreiber is the regional managing director of pro
familia in Berlin and talked about the topic abortion, which is still often
considered a taboo. Moreover, she talked about the laws that make
it impossible for women to inform themselves about abortions. |
In the evening there was a discussion in the local “Bierkeller” regarding
the new law governing sexual assault. |
Due to high demand, the film “The divine order” was moved to
the biggest hall of the cinema. |
The Swiss actress Rachel Braunschweig was present at the screening. She
has received the Swiss film prize for best supporting role for her work
in this film.

Rachel Braunschweig talked about the historical events behind the
film and how it still is up-to-date. In addition to that she gave
insights into the production of the film and the questions she found
herself confronted with when showing the movie in different places. |
