What impact can films have beyond the silver screen? This question was addressed in the panel discussion Social Impact Filming following the screenings of NAWI – Dear Future Me and IMPURE. The panel discussion featured Rico Herre, director of IMPURE, Naisula Lepariyo, social impact consultant for the film, and Toby Schmutzler, director of NAWI – Dear Future Me. The discussion was moderated by Dafne-Maria Fiedler. Both feature films are set in Kenya, based on true events, and address social injustices that are also relevant worldwide. The film teams reported on their commitment and how accompanying campaigns use the films specifically as educational tools. The focus was on both the response in the immediate environment and the impact across national borders. All photos: Gianluca Quaranta
