In a remote village in the south of Egypt, a group of young women form an all-female street theater troupe to challenge traditional gender roles. Their performances tackles issues such as patriarchal structures, early marriage and self-determination, as they wrestle with the urge to go their own way  with the urge to go their own way, despite the constraints of their conservative environment. Their home village of Barsha thus becomes a mirror of Egyptian society and global issues surrounding identity and freedom. THE BRINK OF DREAMS accompanies the girls over a period of four years, from adolescence to adulthood, as they make the most important decisions of their lives and shows how big dreams meet harsh reality. A multi-award-winning documentary that caused quite a stir, especially in Egypt.
