The statistics on gender-based violence in Mexico are disturbing: around 10 women are murdered every day and the number of disappeared women and girls has tripled in the last six years. According to official figures, a total of 3,754 women and girls were murdered in 2022 – and only 947 of them were investigated as femicides. The young artist Mar Mar Maremoto is fighting this dark reality on the ground with her illustrations, which she shares online, and is trying to spread hope and solidarity. In search of a way to challenge the macho norms in her country, Mar talks to women affected by violence and tries to change society. An impressive documentary about the small acts of justice.
RIMANA WASI: HOME OF STORIES is shown as the supporting film.
