
23. Filmfest FrauenWelten 25.10 -01.11.2023
From 25.10-01.11.2023, the 23rd Women’s Worlds Film Festival took place for the fourth time at the KulturBrauerei cinema in Berlin. The festival screened 31 short, feature and documentary films from more than 20 countries on the global women’s rights situation. Twenty-one experts, directors and actors were present for discussions after the films. A total of around 2,400 guests were present at the cinema in the Kulturbrauerei.
The main themes of the festival this year were:
• #stelldichnichtsoan – Stand up against sexualized violence:
DORPIE, BLANQUITA, HAUS DER STILLE
• Faith love self-determination:
EREN, HOW DARE YOU HAVE SUCH A RUBBISH WISH, ELAHA
• Find strength, share strength:
MY NAME IS HAPPY, HELKE SANDER, SMOKE SAUNA SISTERHOOD
A highlight of this year’s festival was the city tour on women’s history in cooperation with FRAUENTOUREN. From Pappelallee to Kollwitzplatz, we went on a historical search for traces of women in film.
Another highlight was the performative reading of the book KILLING THE GOOD GIRL with the publisher Dr. Farsana Soleimankehl-Hanke.
