24th Women's Worlds Film Festival 23.10-29.10.2024
From 23.10-29.10.2024, the 24th Women’s Worlds Film Festival took place for the fifth time at the cinema in the KulturBrauerei in Berlin. The festival screened 24 short, feature and documentary films from more than 20 countries on the global women’s rights situation. There were 31 experts, directors and actors present for discussions after the films. A total of around 2,600 spectators attended the events at the cinema in the KulturBrauerei.
The main topics of the festival this year were
- Health care for women with the films STRAY BODIES, THE RYE HORN and THE MILKY WAY
- Women’s rights in a religious context with the films MEDIHA, AMAL and THE WITNESS
- Domestic and sexualised violence against women with the films A FAMILY, BLACK BOX DIARIES and WE ARE FIRE
The supporting programme with the exhibition STORIES OF MENSTRUATION in cooperation with the NGO NIDISI on the topic of menstrual health and hygiene and the city tour on women’s history enriched the curated film week with 24 international films – including thirteen German and Berlin premieres.
