Ceremonial opening on 25 Oct with the French drama ANGRY ANNIE
On October 25, the 23rd Filmfest FrauenWelten will ceremoniously open at the cinema in the KulturBrauerei with the French feature film ANGRY ANNIE by Blandine Lenoir:
France 1974: Annie, a working mother of two teenagers, unexpectedly becomes pregnant. An underground organization helps her get an abortion. When she herself begins to support illegal abortions, her life takes on a new meaning. But to what extent can she reconcile parenthood, political commitment and work? The feature film brings gender equality and the fight for abortion rights into focus with historical events and partly documentary material. ANGRY ANNIE is a film that imagines an anti-patriarchal and solidary society between anger and unexpected cheerfulness.
For us, the right choice to ring in the 23rd Filmfest FrauenWelten at the end of October. The 23rd Filmfest FrauenWelten will take place this year from 25.10-01.11.2023 in the cinema in the KulturBrauerei Berlin. Also this year there will be a program with more than 30 international films on the topic of women’s rights. The film program will be accompanied by talks with over 20 experts and directors.
