STRAY BODIES

Elina Psykou, Greece / Switzerland / Italy / Bulgaria, 2024, 109 min., documentary, OmeU

The laws on in-vitro fertilization, abortions and active euthanasia vary widely across Europe. Every year, thousands of women travel across the continent to circumvent the restrictive regulations in their home countries. Robin is pregnant, but does not want to become a mother. Katerina and Gaia, both single, are longing for a child. Kiki suffers from an incurable disease and wants to end her life with dignity. STRAY BODIES accompanies these women on their path to a decisive change in their lives and sheds light on the question of why the laws in Europe are so different. Where does self-determination over one’s own body and life begin and end?
