Rana runs a dance studio in Iran, much to the displeasure of her husband, a high-ranking government official. In order to force her to close the studio, he resorts to violence and eventually murders her. Rana’s friend Tarlan witnesses the murder and tries to bring the perpetrator to justice. But the police refuse to seriously investigate the case. As Tarlan continues to seek publicity, she puts herself and her family in grave danger. THE WITNESS shows how women in Iran suffer under oppression and violence and how they courageously fight back against these injustices.
